When you start your own website you have this idea that the world is missing something that you desperately feel like you can contribute to and by doing so enlighten the world to information that you feel is worthy of sharing and that you alone have voice yet to be heard. And then reality sets in. It’s all been said and done before. Depression sets in as you think about how much time and effort you’ve put in to the work that you have produced. Back to the computer, back to writing, a sense of renewed purpose.
Then once again you remember there are way too many beautiful beaches, the planet is littered with cities and culture, you can only focus yourself so much on any one subject. Maybe its worth taking a moment to recognize that we can’t do everything ourselves. We can’t write about every fantastic meal we’ve eaten or every cocktail carefully mixed, it would just take way too darn long. So maybe there’s a point to contributing your opinions and commentary to other sites. Building upon other peoples work and adding elsewhere. Indeed.

Somewhat reluctantly, although now I am all in favor, I have carved out my own little niche on Yelp and will be sharing my quick and dirty thoughts and reviews of places. It’s fun. For bigger, more in-depth stories and opinions, you should always check back here where I get to write freely, but for simple reviews and what I’m craving on a moments notice, there is a whole world of social media out there to help me.
